FAQ — HOW IT WORKS

 

How does coaching work?

We will approach the issue(s) you want to work on with the 5 I’s:

  1. IDENTIFY the problem. It’s not enough to say “something’s off” or “I don’t feel good” or “my partner doesn’t listen or care about me.” We might start there, but ultimately we’ll land on a clearly defined problem that you want help solving.

  2. IMAGINE what life would be like without the problem. Here we’re painting a picture of what the result of our work will look like.

  3. INVESTIGATE the mindset or thought systems that create or contribute to the problem.

  4. INTERRUPT those thoughts with new thoughts and habits that move you closer to your desired result.*

  5. INTEGRATE these new thoughts and habits into your everyday life and self-perception.*

*In steps 4 and 5 we base these new thoughts and habits on the qualities you need to ANCHOR and then the qualities you want to AWAKEN.


How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the intensity and spread of the issue. Sometimes an issue can be solved in 1-4 sessions because it’s a standalone problem and everything else in life is going pretty smoothly. Other times, this is an issue that’s been bothering you for a long time and no one else in your life seems to be able to help you through it. For these, a longer term effort might be necessary.

What does a multi-session package look like?

This is the general structure of any of the multi-session packages that I offer:

Session 1: Introduction, Envisioning, & Goal-Setting. We get to know each other a bit, and I learn about your problem, its history, and how it’s affecting your everyday life. Together we explore what you want to accomplish with coaching and how I can help you get there. By the end of the session, we will have a clearly defined goal for you and concrete action steps for you to practice. I may give you resources to study (e.g. books, podcasts, TED talks) before our next session.

Session 2: Building Your Customized Plan. You’ll have practiced the action steps and done any studying assigned from Session 1, and we’ll go over how it went for you. We’ll refine any action steps that didn’t work so well, build upon the action steps that did, and send you on your way with a customized set of action steps and resources.

Sessions 3+: Implementation, aka Work, work, work!! We’ll review how your action steps are going, celebrate wins, and more deeply investigate any snags or hiccups that you’re encountering with implementing your customized plan. We may practice some mindset exercises together to make sure you feel more confident doing them on your own.

Final Session: Wrap-up and Review. You’re feeling much more equipped and confident than when we started Session 1, and you’ve seen some amazing results from changing your mindset and habits. You’re ready to go it alone, and I send you on your way! Congrats!
