What is Anchored Awakening?
Anchored Awakening is my two-phase approach to solving life’s problems and getting what you want.
ANCHOR. The first phase of any change process is to strengthen the qualities that will provide a foundation for you to pursue new thoughts, actions, and experiences. This is important so you have a stable safety net that is within you.
AWAKEN. Once you are anchored, the next phase is to cultivate qualities that lead you to newness, exploration, and fully immersing yourself in the wonderful life that you’ve always wanted. You will become more open to the present, beautiful world around you.
FAQ — HOW IT WORKS
How do I “change my mindset”?
It may sound hard, but changing your mindset is completely possible. At any point in the coaching process, we use the 5 Steps to a New Mindset:
IDENTIFY the problem. It’s not enough to say “something’s off” or “I don’t feel good” or “my partner doesn’t listen or care about me.” We might start there, but ultimately we’ll land on a clearly defined problem that you want help solving.
IMAGINE what life would be like without the problem. Here we’re painting a picture of what the result of our work will look like.
INVESTIGATE the mindset or thought systems that create or contribute to the problem.
INTERRUPT those thoughts with new thoughts and habits that move you closer to your desired result.
INTEGRATE these new thoughts and habits into your everyday life and self-perception.
FAQ — Coaching vs. Therapy
Is it therapy?
Nope. Coaching is not therapy. Although I have training and experience in providing mental health therapy, my role as your coach is to guide, teach, encourage, and inspire you.
Therapy has many different types, but it’s grounded in allowing the client to be “exactly where they’re at” as an agent for change. This has its benefits, but in my 10+ years of clinical experience, I’ve found that it oftentimes has the paradoxical result of keeping people in stagnation.
My approach in coaching is much more direct and to the point starting from day one. I trust that you’re willing and ready to hear the (at times tough) truth so you can hit the ground running, and that you trust that I know how to solve problems and that I am absolutely, genuinely here to help you reach your goals.
Stepping out of the framework of therapy means we can skip a lot of the “sitting with” and processing and get right to driven action and change. You don’t want to be “exactly where you’re at” anymore – you want to get out of stagnation, change your behavior, and transform your life. Let’s do it!
Can you be my therapist?
Unfortunately, no. I am no longer a practicing therapist, so if you truly have the need for a licensed mental health provider, I would recommend Grow Therapy, TherapyDen, or Portland Therapy Center (for Portland, OR metro area locals) directories to guide you in your search.
